Through six games the Jets rank 27th in points scored and last in red zone efficiency, but their head coach says the offensive coordinator is doing fine.
Aaron Glenn is sticking with Frank Reich. The Jets head coach said Monday that his offensive coordinator has "done a good job," even as the offense continues to sputter through six games this season.
The vote of confidence comes after a Week 6 loss to the Patriots that turned in part on two failed fourth down conversions, with the Jets stopped short on both runs. That same issue showed up in their Week 2 loss to the Packers, suggesting a pattern rather than a one-off problem.
Reich was brought in after the Jets fired Tanner Engstrand at the end of last season, when the team finished 29th in points scored during Glenn's first year as head coach. New York also added quarterback Geno Smith and made other changes to the offensive unit hoping for a jump in production. Instead, the Jets rank 27th in points scored, sit dead last in red zone efficiency, and fall in the bottom portion of the league across a number of other offensive metrics.
For now, Glenn is publicly backing his coordinator rather than hinting at changes, leaving the offense to try to fix its struggles on the field rather than on the sideline.
