Reese put up 30 points and 16 rebounds, talking trash and blocking shots along the way as Atlanta evened the WNBA Finals.
Angel Reese made sure the Atlanta Dream would not fall into a 2-0 hole in the WNBA Finals. Facing the Golden State Valkyries in Game 2, Reese delivered one of the best performances of her postseason, finishing with 30 points and 16 rebounds to help Atlanta even the series.
Reese set the tone early, chirping at Valkyries center Aminata Gueye in the first quarter before blocking her shot on the very next possession. The exchange went viral, with fans and commentators praising her competitive edge. She stayed physical throughout, drawing a foul from Gueye and continuing to talk trash between free throws.
Reese later said she demanded the ball from her teammates, a mindset that fueled her big night. Not everything was smooth, though. With less than eight minutes left in the quarter, she was seen visibly frustrated during a stretch of play.
Atlanta needed the response after dropping Game 1, and Reese delivered it on both ends of the floor. The series now shifts with the teams tied heading into the next game.
