Steelers bring back Marquez Valdes-Scantling

The veteran receiver is expected to join Pittsburgh's practice squad, reuniting with Aaron Rodgers.

The Steelers are re-signing wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, according to Mike DeFabo of TheAthletic.com. The veteran is expected to land on Pittsburgh's practice squad.

The move puts Valdes-Scantling back in the same building as Aaron Rodgers, continuing a connection between the two that dates back to their time together. For a Steelers receiver room looking for depth, adding a player with his experience on the practice squad costs little and gives the team another body to call up if injuries pile up.

There is no word yet on when Valdes-Scantling might be elevated to the active roster, or what his role would look like if he is. For now, this is a depth move, the kind of transaction that rarely makes headlines but quietly shapes a roster as the season wears on.
