Commanders' McLaurin carted off with knee injury vs 49ers

The wide receiver was fitted with a brace and ruled out for the rest of Monday night's game after an injury late in the first quarter.

Terry McLaurin's night ended early in San Francisco. The Commanders wide receiver went down with a knee injury late in the first quarter of Monday's game against the 49ers and was carted off the field in a brace while players from both teams came over to check on him.

Washington quickly ruled the two-time Pro Bowler and team captain out for the remainder of the game, describing it simply as a knee injury. McLaurin was also seen wearing an air cast on his left leg, which has raised concern about how serious the injury might be.

With McLaurin sidelined, Stefon Diggs becomes Washington's leading receiver for the rest of the game. Antonio Williams, Dyami Brown and Treylon Burks figure to see more targets as well, along with tight end Chig Okonkwo.

McLaurin has been a central piece of the Commanders' offense, so any extended absence would be a significant loss. The full extent of the injury was not immediately known.
