Schottenheimer is now 10-13 since taking over, and the losing has exposed problems on both sides of the ball. The defense has been shaky all season, but it is the offense that has drawn the sharpest criticism over the past two weeks.\n\nJones did not hedge when asked directly about the coach's standing, saying the organization \"absolutely\" believes in Schottenheimer. For a franchise known for impatience with underperforming coaches, the public vote of confidence is notable given the record and the recent stretch of offensive struggles.\n\nWhether that support holds depends on what Dallas does next, but for now ownership is choosing to stand by its coach rather than entertain questions about his job security.","published_at":"2026-10-21T00:20:15.583659+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Stephen Jones: Schottenheimer has full support of Cowboys' ownership","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50222284/brian-schottenheimer-full-support-cowboys-ownership"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Cowboys' Stephen Jones addresses Brian Schottenheimer's job status after team's 2-4 start","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/cowboys-stephen-jones-addresses-brian-schottenheimers-status/"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Stephen Jones says Cowboys 'absolutely' believe in Brian Schottenheimer","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7705191/2026/10/19/cowboys-brian-schottenheimer-coach-hot-seat/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"History says Cowboys will be patient with Brian Schottenheimer","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/history-says-cowboys-patient-brian-130000498.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"NFL Panic Meter: Is Brian Schottenheimer already in trouble for the Cowboys?","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/nfl-panic-meter-is-brian-schottenheimer-already-in-trouble-for-the-cowboys-135344019.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Cowboys fan survey: If you were Jerry Jones…","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/cowboys-fan-survey-were-jerry-174500980.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://a3.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2026%2F1019%2Fr1733157_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg","credit":"ESPN","width":1296},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
