An MLB executive source says the Yankees are keeping Boone as manager for 2027, the final guaranteed year on his contract, an outcome that was widely expected.\n\nThe confirmation arrives 12 days after Tampa Bay swept New York out of the AL Division Series, and neither GM Brian Cashman nor owner Hal Steinbrenner has made any public statement since the series ended. Boone himself said in the immediate aftermath that he expected to return, though he added that \"those conversations and things are for another day.\" That came after the Rays' 4-3 win in ALDS Game 3 closed out the series.\n\nBoone did not hide how the early exit felt. \"When you pour so much into it and it's your livelihood, it's hard to describe how awful of a feeling it is to go home again,\" he said.\n\nOver nine seasons as Yankees manager, Boone has a 790-565 regular-season record, good for a .583 winning percentage, but a more modest 27-30 mark in the postseason. He has had plenty of regular-season success, but a World Series title has stayed out of reach during his tenure.","published_at":"2026-10-20T00:05:54.422100+00:00","source_count":5,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Aaron Boone returning as Yankees manager for 2027, source says","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/aaron-boone-returning-yankees-manager-220428527.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Yankees to keep Aaron Boone as manager in 2027: Source","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7675201/2026/10/19/aaron-boone-yankees-manager-return/"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Aaron Boone will return as Yankees manager for 2027 season despite ALDS exit, per report","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/aaron-boone-return-yankees-manager-2027-season/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"2 trades Yankees must make after MLB postseason failure","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/2-trades-yankees-must-mlb-204612176.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Aaron Boone reportedly set to return as Yankees manager in 2027 after latest postseason exit, speculation","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/breaking-news/article/aaron-boone-reportedly-set-to-return-as-yankees-manager-in-2027-after-latest-postseason-exit-speculation-214000896.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Aaron Boone to return as Yankees manager in 2027","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/aaron-boone-return-yankees-manager-214408311.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Aaron Boone will return as Yankees manager for 2027","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/aaron-boone-return-yankees-manager-220912410.html"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Boone returning as Yankees manager in 2027, source says","url":"https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/50222033/aaron-boone-returning-new-york-yankees-manager"},{"outlet":"MLB.com","publisher":"MLB.com","title":"Boone to return as Yankees manager in '27, final year of his contract (source)","url":"https://www.mlb.com/news/aaron-boone-return-yankees-manager-2027"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Yankees’ Aaron Boone set to return for 2027 season","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/yankees-aaron-boone-set-return-225341342.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Why bringing back Aaron Boone for 2027 season is a mistake for the Yankees","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/why-bringing-back-aaron-boone-002341267.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Yankees make big Aaron Boone decision","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/yankees-big-aaron-boone-decision-224425195.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Yankees bringing Aaron Boone back as manager in 2027: source","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/yankees-bringing-aaron-boone-back-012300778.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Aaron Boone will have another chance to get Yankees over the hump","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/aaron-boone-another-chance-yankees-215824090.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Aaron Boone Gets Terrible Update For Long-Term Yankees Future","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/aaron-boone-gets-terrible-long-040816658.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://s.yimg.com/lo/mysterio/api/3464f74d209815263216eb6a8fb82a6a70f95a0c920ad707482c334145cb8671/lightyear_networkapi/resizefill_w1200_h675%3Bquality_80%3Bformat_webp/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.zenfs.com%2Fen%2Fthe-bergen-record%2Fa532a408e2d2b42a6e209893453ecb5f.jpg","credit":"Yahoo Sports","width":1200},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
