The senior wideout was booked hours after Oregon's 17-14 win over Nebraska, a game he missed with an undisclosed injury.
Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart was arrested early Sunday morning on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants, according to a report from Portland's KATU. Stewart, 23, was cited at 5:34 a.m. local time and booked at approximately 7 a.m. PT, according to Springfield, Oregon police. The official filing of a DUII charge is still pending.
Police told KATU that Stewart was released about an hour after booking to a teammate, later identified as fellow receiver Dakorien Moore.
Oregon athletics issued a brief statement on Monday acknowledging the situation. "We are aware of the incident and are gathering information at this time," a spokesperson said.
Stewart did not play in Oregon's 17-14 win over Nebraska on Saturday, sitting out with an undisclosed injury. He had played in the Ducks' first five games of the season and is considered the team's leading receiver. No further details on potential discipline or the status of the pending charge have been released.
