The Bay Golf Club has sent Shane Lowry to Boston Common Golf, reuniting him with his Jupiter neighbor and close friend Rory McIlroy.\n\nIn return, The Bay receives Boston Common's fourth selection to fill its open roster spot in this season's roster formation process, along with one future selection over the next three offseasons and commercial considerations.\n\nThe deal comes as TGL expands for its third season. Rosters have grown from four to five players, and the league has added a new team, Motor City Golf Club based in Detroit, which has added Brooks Koepka to its roster. Full rosters for every team are expected to be announced this week.\n\nBoston Common Golf also fields a team in the WTGL, which is set to hold its inaugural season. The TGL season itself is scheduled to start December 27, with all matches played at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens.\n\nWith the trade done, attention now turns to the full roster reveals and the countdown to opening night.","published_at":"2026-10-20T00:05:54.422100+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"SB Nation","publisher":"SB Nation","title":"TGL announces first-ever trade: Shane Lowry to Boston Common from Bay Golf Club","url":"https://www.sbnation.com/golf/1132904/tgl-trade-shane-lowry-bay-boston"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Shane Lowry reunites with Rory McIlroy after first-ever TGL trade","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/shane-lowry-reunites-rory-mcilroy-160346133.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry reunite with Boston Common in first TGL trade in league history","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/golf/news/rory-mcilroy-shane-lowry-tgl-trade-boston-common/"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"TGL's first trade sends Lowry to Boston Common from The Bay Golf Club","url":"https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/50218374/tgl-first-trade-sends-lowry-boston-common-bay-golf"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Shane Lowry joins Rory McIlroy, Boston Common Golf in first trade in TGL history","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/shane-lowry-joins-rory-mcilroy-141746712.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Major champ dealt to Boston in TGL's first-ever trade","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/major-champ-dealt-boston-tgls-152234481.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"TGL Has Their First Ever Trade Prior To Third Season","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/tgl-first-ever-trade-prior-200025309.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Rory McIlroy Issues Personal Statement After Historic TGL Trade","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rory-mcilroy-issues-personal-statement-042623109.html"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
