During a halftime interview with CBS Sports sideline reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala, the Jets coach said, \"The good thing is, we get the ball. We get a chance to go move it and finish.\" Except the Patriots were the ones who got the ball to start the second half, not the Jets.\n\nNew York ended up falling a touchdown short in the loss, which made Glenn's comment look worse in hindsight. Reporters understandably wanted to know what happened at his Monday press conference, since knowing which team has the ball after halftime is not exactly advanced football strategy.\n\nGlenn pushed back on the idea that he was confused at all, insisting there was no mix-up on his end about who received the second-half kickoff. His explanation did little to quiet the reaction to the original interview, which had already made the rounds as a prime example of a coach saying the quiet part loud at the wrong time.\n\nThe Jets will have to move on from both the loss and the moment, with the halftime interview likely to follow Glenn for a while regardless of how he explains it now.","published_at":"2026-10-20T00:05:54.422100+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Aaron Glenn press conference goes dark after question about viral halftime interview","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/aaron-glenn-press-conference-goes-190037032.html"},{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"Aaron Glenn press conference goes dark after question about viral halftime interview","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/aaron-glenn-press-conference-goes-dark-viral-halftime-interview-question.html"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Aaron Glenn: No confusion about who got the ball to start the second half","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/aaron-glenn-i-wasnt-confused-about-who-got-the-ball-to-start-the-second-half"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Jets’ Aaron Glenn pushes back on confusion over bizarre CBS halftime interview","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/19/sports/jets-aaron-glenn-pushes-back-on-confusion-over-cbs-halftime-interview/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Aaron Glenn incorrectly thought the Jets were receiving the ball to start the second half","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/aaron-glenn-incorrectly-thought-jets-192902927.html"},{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"Aaron Glenn appeared confused about who has possession to start Jets-Patriots second half","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/news/aaron-glenn-appears-confused-possession-jets-pats-second-half.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Jets’ loss to Patriots looks even worse with silly Aaron Glenn blooper","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jets-loss-patriots-looks-even-234634544.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Aaron Glenn appeared confused about who has possession to start Jets-Patriots second half","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/aaron-glenn-appeared-confused-possession-000006082.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Jets continue to struggle at the ends of halves under Aaron Glenn","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jets-continue-struggle-ends-halves-124359555.html"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Jets continue to struggle at the ends of halves under Aaron Glenn","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jets-continue-to-struggle-at-the-ends-of-halves-under-aaron-glenn"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Aaron Glenn: No confusion about who got the ball to start the second half","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/aaron-glenn-no-confusion-got-152743955.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://nbcsports.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/2cb2f8f/2147483647/strip/false/crop/1920x1080+0+0/resize/1920x1080!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhdliveextra-a.akamaihd.net%2FHD%2Fimage_sports%2FNBCU_Sports_Group_-_nbcsports%2F858%2F855%2Fajbrownmpx.jpg","credit":"Pro Football Talk","width":1920},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
