Aaron Glenn says he wasn't confused about halftime kickoff after all

The Jets coach went viral for saying "we get the ball" to start the second half, but the Patriots received the kickoff and New York lost by a touchdown.

Aaron Glenn spent Monday cleaning up a mess from Sunday afternoon. During a halftime interview with CBS Sports sideline reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala, the Jets coach said, "The good thing is, we get the ball. We get a chance to go move it and finish." Except the Patriots were the ones who got the ball to start the second half, not the Jets.

New York ended up falling a touchdown short in the loss, which made Glenn's comment look worse in hindsight. Reporters understandably wanted to know what happened at his Monday press conference, since knowing which team has the ball after halftime is not exactly advanced football strategy.

Glenn pushed back on the idea that he was confused at all, insisting there was no mix-up on his end about who received the second-half kickoff. His explanation did little to quiet the reaction to the original interview, which had already made the rounds as a prime example of a coach saying the quiet part loud at the wrong time.

The Jets will have to move on from both the loss and the moment, with the halftime interview likely to follow Glenn for a while regardless of how he explains it now.
