Chad Ryland's 43-yard walk-off kick drops Los Angeles to 2-4 and last in the NFC West.
The Rams entered as heavy favorites and left with another collapse, falling 18-16 to the Arizona Cardinals after Chad Ryland drilled a 43-yard field goal as time expired. Los Angeles blew a late lead and now sits at 2-4, last in the NFC West.
The Rams looked sluggish from the opening whistle, a recurring theme this season. Their offense managed just 107 yards in the first half, and the defense, coordinated by Chris Shula, repeatedly failed to get off the field on third down. New kicker Blake Grupe was injured on kickoff coverage in the first quarter, adding to the day's problems.
Arizona, playing without the pressure of expectations, was patient and effective. Jacoby Brissett picked apart the Rams with high-percentage throws, Bam Knight ran with little resistance, and Trey McBride came up big when the Cardinals needed him. Los Angeles kept itself in the game only through red zone stops that forced Arizona into short field goals for much of the afternoon, but that resistance finally cracked when it mattered most.
The loss leaves the Rams searching for answers on both sides of the ball as their season continues to slide.
