Williams completed his first 12 passes and finished 30-of-36 for 305 yards and a touchdown in his first game back since a Week 2 hamstring strain.
Caleb Williams didn't miss a beat. Three weeks removed from a hamstring injury suffered in Week 2 against the Vikings, the Bears quarterback came out firing, completing his first 12 passes of the game, the longest such streak to start a game in his career.
He finished 30-of-36 for 305 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions as Chicago held off Atlanta 31-23, improving to 4-2 on the season. His opening drive was a tidy 6-for-6, capped by a 14-yard touchdown pass to tight end Colston Loveland, the 50th touchdown pass of Williams's career.
Loveland was a clear beneficiary of Williams's return, hauling in six catches for 65 yards and the score on seven targets. The Bears offense, which had looked out of sync without its starting quarterback, suddenly had its full complement of playmakers back on the field.
Williams didn't do much with his legs, picking up just three yards on the ground, but that hardly mattered given how cleanly he operated from the pocket. The performance was enough to earn him Player of the Game honors from the FOX broadcast, a nod to a return that showed no lingering effects of the injury that kept him out since Week 2.
