NFL confirms Steelers-Saints game in Paris will go on despite unrest

The league says there has been no disruption to its sites as it works with local authorities on security ahead of its first regular-season game in France.

The NFL says the Week 7 matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints will be played in Paris as scheduled, even as civil unrest and protests escalate across France. The game, set for Sunday, October 25 at Stade de France with a 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff, will be the league's first regular-season game held in the country.

In a written statement to Front Office Sports, the league said it continues "to work closely with local authorities and partners on all operational and security matters" and is giving both clubs regular updates. The NFL added there has been "no disruption or impact at league sites" so far.

The reassurance comes after violence broke out across France over the weekend, with the BBC reporting at least 1,200 arrests amid the ongoing protests. French officials have described the unrest in stark terms, though reports indicate Saturday's flare-up has since calmed somewhat.

For now, preparations for the historic game continue uninterrupted, with the Steelers and Saints expected to make the trip as planned.
