Carter Verhaeghe took his turn this time, scoring three goals from late in the first period into early in the second, while Sam Bennett also notched a hat trick in the same game. Brady Tkachuk had done it for Florida in each of the two previous games.\n\nThe result was an 8-3 rout of the Kraken, extending the Panthers' winning streak to three. Bennett opened the scoring just 65 seconds into the game, a rare fast start for a team that had not scored first in any game this season aside from an overtime winner in the opener at Carolina. Seattle briefly tied it before Florida pulled away.\n\nMatthew Tkachuk chipped in three assists but left the game late after colliding with Bennett. According to The Athletic, it is only the third time in the last 30 years that a team has produced three hat tricks across three straight games, underlining just how unusual Florida's recent scoring surge has been.","published_at":"2026-10-18T05:50:08.332287+00:00","source_count":3,"written_from":[{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Panthers become 1st team in NHL history with natural hat tricks in 3 straight games","url":"https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/50206303/verhaeghe-bennett-keep-panthers-hat-trick-streak-tact"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"History Made: Verhaeghe, Bennett Get Hat Tricks, Panthers Rout Kraken","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/history-made-verhaeghe-bennett-hat-004202005.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Panthers become first team in NHL history to record natural hat trick in 3 straight games","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7699587/2026/10/17/panthers-nhl-natural-hat-tricks-verhaeghe-history/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Florida Panthers set NHL record with surge of natural hat tricks","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/florida-panthers-set-nhl-record-000735546.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Verhaeghe, Bennett each get hat tricks, Panthers roll past Kraken 8-3","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/verhaeghe-bennett-hat-tricks-panthers-005154542.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://a2.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2026%2F1018%2Fr1732248_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg","credit":"ESPN","width":1296},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
