A replay reversal on Nick Marsh's fourth-down catch sealed the win, but starting quarterback Julian Sayin will miss several weeks with a throwing-shoulder injury.
Ohio State beat Indiana 19-15 on Saturday in a game that got uglier the longer it went. The Buckeyes avenged last year's Big Ten Championship loss, but the final sequence summed up the day: Indiana appeared to score the go-ahead touchdown on fourth down before officials ruled that receiver Nick Marsh's left foot had slipped out of bounds in the end zone, erasing the score and handing Ohio State the win.
The bigger cost came earlier. Starting quarterback Julian Sayin left the game after Indiana's Mario Landino sacked him, forcing a fumble and injuring Sayin's throwing shoulder. He is expected to miss several weeks.
Ohio State coach Ryan Day credited his team's composure through a sloppy, penalty-filled afternoon. "Our guys never flinched. They had a different look in their eye," Day said afterward, sounding as relieved as anyone watching.
The win keeps Ohio State's season on track, but it arrives with a real problem at quarterback heading into the stretch run.
