Patriots activate A.J. Brown off IR for Jets game

Brown is set to play Sunday after missing four games with a high-ankle sprain suffered in the season opener.

The Patriots activated wide receiver A.J. Brown from injured reserve on Saturday, clearing him to face the Jets in Week 6. Brown, 29, had been out since the season opener against the Seahawks, when he left in the third quarter after catching three passes for 26 yards with a high-ankle sprain. He landed on injured reserve the next day, a move that forced him to sit out a minimum of four games.

With that window now closed, Brown was eligible to return this week. He was a limited participant in all three practices leading up to Sunday and is listed as questionable, but the expectation is that he suits up against New York.

Getting Brown back gives the Patriots' offense one of its most important pieces after a month without him. New England dropped that Week 1 opener to Seattle, 13-10, and will look for his presence to help settle things against a divisional opponent.
