Saquon Barkley, who did not practice all week with a hamstring injury, has been ruled out. Will Shipley, dealing with a foot injury, is also out, leaving Philadelphia's backfield thin.\n\nThere is better news at receiver. DeVonta Smith, who had been dealing with a hamstring and toe issue, is off the injury report and will play after being a full participant in Friday's practice. Smith said he felt good but left the final call up to the doctors, who cleared him. He has 19 catches for 235 yards with one touchdown so far in 2026, and his return gives the Eagles back one of their top offensive weapons after he missed the last two games.\n\nThe Eagles will also be without defensive back Michael Carter, who has an abdomen injury, and outside linebacker Jalyx Hunt, who is dealing with knee and ankle issues. Quarterback Jalen Hurts, nursing a calf injury, has also been ruled out for Sunday's game.","published_at":"2026-10-17T05:34:53.087177+00:00","source_count":3,"written_from":[{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Eagles' beat-up backfield loses Barkley, Shipley; Smith likely to return","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50198056/eagles-saquon-barkley-ruled-devonta-smith-return"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Saquon Barkley ruled out for Week 6","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/saquon-barkley-ruled-week-6-204250748.html"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Saquon Barkley out, DeVonta Smith off injury report and will play vs. Panthers","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/saquon-barkley-out-devonta-smith-off-injury-report-and-will-play-vs-panthers"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"DeVonta Smith listed as limited in Eagles practice, Saquon Barkley still out","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/devonta-smith-listed-limited-eagles-215416272.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Eagles opposing player to stop, Week 6 edition","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/eagles-opposing-player-stop-week-185306033.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Eagles rule out RB Saquon Barkley (hamstring), WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) good to go for Week 6 vs. Panthers","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/breaking-news/article/eagles-rule-out-rb-saquon-barkley-hamstring-wr-devonta-smith-hamstring-good-to-go-for-week-6-vs-panthers-200854438.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Saquon Barkley out, DeVonta Smith off injury report and will play vs. Panthers","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/saquon-barkley-devonta-smith-off-202951601.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"DeVonta Smith Is Set To Return From Injury, But Is He A Fantasy Football Start With Jalen Hurts OUT","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/devonta-smith-set-return-injury-210240473.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Eagles-Panthers Final Injury Report: DeVonta Smith will play, Saquon Barkley out","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/eagles-panthers-final-injury-report-211315959.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Panthers Know If Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley Are Playing For Eagles In Week 6","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/panthers-know-saquon-barkley-shipley-231029214.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://nbcsports.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/958a957/2147483647/strip/false/crop/1920x1080+0+0/resize/1920x1080!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhdliveextra-a.akamaihd.net%2FHD%2Fimage_sports%2FNBCU_Sports_Group_-_nbcsports%2F672%2F319%2Fnbc_pft_jalenhurtsinjury_261016.jpg","credit":"Pro Football Talk","width":1920},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
