Both teams arrive undefeated and ranked in the AP poll, though BYU's resume includes closer calls against TCU and Iowa State, and this marks their first test against a ranked opponent this season.\n\nNotre Dame has yet to lose, and quarterback CJ Carr has thrown far more touchdown passes than BYU's Bear Bachmeier this year. Still, both programs lean on strong defenses, which should keep the scoring modest. A BYU win would carry extra weight for its College Football Playoff case, especially since the Cougars could be without running back LJ Martin.\n\nElsewhere in the conference, Houston faces Oklahoma State in another notable matchup. West Virginia, losers of three straight, tries to snap that skid against Cincinnati. Between the ranked clash, the playoff implications and teams fighting to turn seasons around, it adds up to a full slate worth watching before kickoff.","published_at":"2026-10-16T23:48:26.301536+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Top Big 12 football games to watch, best matchups and upset pick","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/top-big-12-football-games-194534842.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Notre Dame vs. BYU prediction, odds, time: Week 7 college football picks from proven model","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/betting/news/notre-dame-byu-prediction-odds-time-2026-week-7-college-football-picks/"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"College football Week 7 top 10 games: Ohio-State-Indiana, Notre Dame-BYU and more","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7693406/2026/10/16/college-football-week-7-top-10-games-ohio-state-indiana-notre-dame-byu/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Week 7 College Football Playoff impact games: Notre Dame-BYU, Ohio State-Indiana lead monster slate","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/week-7-college-football-playoff-notre-dame-byu-ohio-state-indiana/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Notre Dame, UCLA on upset alert in college football bold predictions for Week 7","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/notre-dame-ucla-upset-alert-091140223.html"},{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"College Football Week 7 Schedule: Top Games, TV Channels, Streaming, Previews","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/college-football-week-7-schedule-top-games-tv-channels-streaming-previews"}],"image":{"url":"https://s.yimg.com/lo/mysterio/api/a4a36a155caf39f931526d1adc84a7457de83e4547eb9c3219987015c58a96ab/lightyear_networkapi/resizefill_w1200_h675%3Bquality_80%3Bformat_webp/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.zenfs.com%2Fen%2Fbuffaloes_wire_usa_today_articles_968%2Fceffc5b2a462840db323d8ad9b4a966c.jpg","credit":"Yahoo Sports","width":1200},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
