The Brewers' first World Series trip since 1982 bumped the Bucks' Oct. 23 opener against the Bulls from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. Central.
Milwaukee has two teams needing the same night, so one of them moved. The Bucks announced Friday they are shifting their home opener against the Bulls on Oct. 23 from a 7 p.m. Central tip-off to 3 p.m., clearing the evening for Game 1 of the World Series at American Family Field.
The scheduling scramble comes after the Brewers completed a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series on Thursday, Oct. 15, sending Milwaukee to its first World Series since 1982. That is a 44-year gap for a franchise that has been waiting a long time to host a Fall Classic again.
The Bucks acknowledged the moment in a statement, calling the Brewers' return to the World Series "a special moment for Milwaukee and sports fans across Wisconsin" and congratulating the organization on the achievement. Rather than compete for attention and parking downtown, the Bucks opted to get their opener in earlier in the day so fans and the city itself are free to lock in on the Brewers once the sun goes down.
