Both franchises are chasing their first title after sweeping their semifinal series, with the Finals set to tip off Saturday afternoon.
The 2026 WNBA Finals will produce a first-time champion no matter what, with the Atlanta Dream making their fourth Finals appearance and the Golden State Valkyries trying to become the fastest expansion franchise ever to win a title. Both teams got here by sweeping their semifinal series, and oddsmakers see little separating them now.
Sportsbooks have the Valkyries as small favorites, with odds in the -115 to -120 range, while the Dream sit at +105 to -105 depending on the book. That is about as close to even as a pregame line gets. Bettors apparently expect a grind too, since BetMGM and DraftKings both price a six-game series at +200 to +210, suggesting the market leans toward this one going long rather than wrapping up quickly.
The matchup is also loaded on the defensive end. The WNBA's All-Defense teams included six players who will suit up in this Finals, three apiece from Golden State and Atlanta. The Dream's Angel Reese made the First Team alongside Rhyne Howard and was also named Defensive Player of the Year, while Golden State's Gabby Williams joined her on the top unit. The Valkyries added Veronica Burton and Kiah Stokes to the Second Team.
The series begins Saturday afternoon.
