Caleb Williams full-go at practice, Bears still cagey on start

Williams logged another complete practice Thursday, but coach Ben Johnson has not confirmed he will start this weekend.

Caleb Williams took part in a full practice Thursday, the latest sign that the Bears quarterback could be back in the lineup this weekend. It marks another session without restrictions, continuing a trend that has fueled expectations he is nearing a return.

Even so, Chicago is not ready to make it official. Ben Johnson has stopped short of committing to Williams as the starter, leaving the quarterback situation unsettled even as the on-field evidence points toward his comeback.

The uncertainty keeps the Bears' quarterback carousel spinning for at least a few more days. Williams practicing fully is the clearest indicator yet that the team could have its top option back under center, but until Johnson says so directly, the starting job remains technically unresolved heading into the weekend matchup.
