Jalen Hurts ruled out vs. Panthers with blood clot in calf

The injury traces back to a cleat to the calf against the Rams in Week 4, and a follow-up ultrasound showing movement in the clot has sidelined Hurts out of caution.

The Eagles have ruled out quarterback Jalen Hurts for Sunday's Week 6 game against the Panthers after an ultrasound revealed movement in a small blood clot in his calf. The team says the issue originated on October 4th, when Hurts was cleated in the calf during Philadelphia's game against the Rams.

According to the Eagles' statement, Hurts first sought treatment for the calf on Thursday, October 8th, after practicing in full earlier in the week. He told medical staff he'd been cleated during the Rams game. Despite the injury, Hurts played without limitation the following week in London against the Jaguars, then received treatment and practiced in full through Wednesday.

An ultrasound performed Wednesday night showed movement in the small blood clot, prompting the team to rule him out of an abundance of caution. The clot has been described as superficial. Hurts will miss at least the Panthers game, with the full timeline for his return still unclear.
