Amar'e Stoudemire graduates police academy, joins Miami-Dade schools force

The former Knicks star and newly inducted Hall of Famer will train as an officer with the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department.

Amar'e Stoudemire has a new job title. The 43-year-old former New York Knicks star graduated Wednesday from the Miami-Dade Police Academy after months of rigorous training, and he will now join the county's school police department.

Stoudemire's basketball resume is well known: six-time NBA All-Star, 2003 Rookie of the Year, and a recently inducted Basketball Hall of Famer who played for some of the league's biggest franchises, including the Miami Heat. Miami Dade College marked the milestone on Instagram, noting he graduated with special recognition from the School of Justice Basic Law Enforcement Academy.

He will now train with the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department, trading highlight reels for a badge as he begins the next phase of his career in law enforcement. It is a significant shift for someone who spent so long in the spotlight of professional basketball, now taking on a role focused on safety within the county's school system.
