Brewers push Dodgers to brink with Game 3 comeback

Back-to-back seventh-inning home runs from Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell powered Milwaukee to a 6-2 win and a 3-0 NLCS lead.

The Brewers trailed before a seventh-inning home run blitz flipped the game, with Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell going back-to-back to reclaim the lead for good. Milwaukee held on for a 6-2 win in Game 3, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series.

The result leaves the defending World Series champion Dodgers on the brink of elimination. Los Angeles came into this postseason chasing a third straight World Series title, a feat that would mark a rare hat-trick, but now finds itself facing a steep climb just to extend the season.

History is not on the Dodgers' side. Only one team in MLB history, the 2004 Boston Red Sox, has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a best-of-seven postseason series. A year ago, the Dodgers were the ones sweeping Milwaukee out of the NLCS. Now the shoe is on the other foot, with the Brewers one win away from reaching the World Series and the Dodgers needing to find answers fast just to stay alive.
