The Dodgers outfielder went public with his frustration over the commercials airing during this year's MLB postseason broadcasts, specifically calling out the Sydney Sweeney ad for gambling platform Novig as an example of content that has no business airing during family viewing time.\n\nResponding to a social media post criticizing the ad lineup, Call named names. He pointed to the Sweeney spot alongside a Megan Fox ad for ED pills and R-rated movie trailers as examples of what he called \"soft porn\" creeping into broadcasts on TBS, Fox and NBC.\n\nCall's complaint centered on the idea that baseball is supposed to be a shared experience between parents and kids. He asked how he's supposed to explain to his son why a half-naked woman might show up on screen during what he called America's Pastime, arguing parents shouldn't have to field that question in the middle of a playoff game.\n\nThe ad in question has already drawn attention for leaning hard on Sweeney's celebrity to sell the new betting platform. Whether the leagues or networks respond to Call's comments remains to be seen.","published_at":"2026-10-15T05:04:16.719263+00:00","source_count":3,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"Dodgers player slams ‘soft porn’ ads during MLB postseason games","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/dodgers-player-slams-ads-sydney-sweeney.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Dodgers outfielder rips MLB over ‘soft porn’ Sydney Sweeney playoff ad","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/dodgers-outfielder-rips-mlb-over-184527231.html"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Dodgers outfielder rips MLB over ‘soft porn’ Sydney Sweeney playoff ad","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/14/sports/dodgers-outfielder-mlb-soft-porn-sydney-sweeney-playoff-ad/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Dodgers outfielder blasts MLB for airing controversial Sydney Sweeney commercial","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/dodgers-outfielder-blasts-mlb-airing-163056887.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Dodgers outfielder calls out 'half-naked' ad during MLB playoffs: 'Parents shouldn’t have to worry'","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/dodgers-outfielder-calls-half-naked-194137723.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Parents shouldn’t have to worry about this’: Dodgers outfielder blasts MLB for showing ‘half-naked’ Sydney Sweeney ad","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/parents-shouldn-t-worry-dodgers-214813720.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Dodgers OF calling out ‘soft porn ads’ during MLB Playoffs has to be referring to Sydney Sweeney, Megan Fox commercials","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/dodgers-calling-soft-porn-ads-220346122.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Dodgers player slams ‘soft porn’ ads during MLB postseason games","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/dodgers-player-slams-soft-porn-003058423.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Dodgers player says MLB broadcasts are airing 'soft porn ads'","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/dodgers-player-says-mlb-broadcasts-005830653.html"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Baseball royalty goes to war over risque Megan Fox and Sydney Sweeney MLB playoff ads","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/14/sports/dale-murphy-rips-risque-megan-fox-sydney-sweeney-mlb-playoff-ads/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Dodgers Outfielder Calls Out MLB Broadcasts Over Sydney Sweeney Decision","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/dodgers-outfielder-calls-mlb-broadcasts-020153538.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘How do I justify’ – LA Dodgers star calls out MLB for airing Sydney Sweeney commercial","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/justify-la-dodgers-star-calls-042445608.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Baseball royalty goes to war over risque Megan Fox and Sydney Sweeney MLB playoff ads","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/baseball-royalty-goes-war-over-013907406.html"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
