Sam Houston is still trying to shake off a bad loss at Liberty last week.
Western Kentucky heads to Sam Houston on Wednesday night with a little momentum, having beaten conference rival Missouri State 34-13 last week. The Hilltoppers sit at 2-3 overall after a rocky start to the season, and a win here would keep them in the conversation for the top spots in Conference USA.
Sam Houston, meanwhile, is looking to put last week behind it after what was described as a cataclysmic loss at Liberty. Hosting Western Kentucky gives the Bearkats a chance to reset before conference play gets more crowded on the schedule.
Kickoff is set for 8 PM EDT on ESPN2, with streaming available on Fubo. It is a rare Wednesday slate for college football, giving both programs a quick turnaround to fix what went wrong last week, or in Western Kentucky's case, to keep doing what worked.
Neither team has much room for error if they want to stay relevant in the Conference USA race this season, and this one figures to be close.
