Philo has been limited in practice this week while dealing with a shoulder injury, and the Gators are expected to release their first official availability report Wednesday night.\n\nPhilo has started all six of Florida's games this season, a stretch in which he completed 105 of 149 passes for 1,341 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also added 104 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, making him a factor in both the passing and running game.\n\nIf Philo is ruled out, the job falls to sophomore Tramell Jones Jr., who beat out Philo for the starting role in preseason camp before losing out. A start at Texas would be the first of his career, thrown into one of the tougher road environments on Florida's schedule.\n\nThe Gators are expected to have more clarity on Philo's status as the week progresses, with the full picture likely coming into focus closer to kickoff.","published_at":"2026-10-15T05:04:16.719263+00:00","source_count":3,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"Shoulder Injury Threatens Florida QB Aaron Philo's Availability Against No. 7 Texas","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/florida-qb-aaron-philo-might-not-play-at-no-7-texas-because-of-a-shoulder-injury-ap-source-says"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Florida QB Aaron Philo's status is uncertain ahead of Texas game","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/florida-qb-aaron-philos-status-163411818.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Florida QB Aaron Philo's status vs. No. 7 Texas in doubt as injury concerns mount","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/florida-qb-aaron-philo-injury-texas/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Florida QB Aaron Philo might not play at No. 7 Texas because of a shoulder injury, AP source says","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/florida-qb-aaron-philo-might-163824099.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Texas football vs Florida: Gators QB Aaron Philo uncertain to play due to reported injury","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/texas-football-vs-florida-gators-190808048.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Florida football’s Aaron Philo in doubt for Texas showdown with mysterious injury","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/florida-football-aaron-philo-doubt-005413385.html"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
