NFL weighs pulling Eagles-Commanders from Sunday night

Philadelphia's three-game losing skid has the league reportedly shopping for a replacement primetime matchup for Week 8.

The Eagles are losers of three straight games, and now the NFL is reportedly reconsidering whether anyone wants to watch them on Sunday night. According to Rob Tornoe of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the league is looking at options to flex another matchup into the Week 8 Sunday Night Football slot on NBC in place of the scheduled Eagles-Commanders game, with a decision deadline of October 20.

It is a rough look for a team that won the Super Bowl two years ago and has reached the NFC title game in two of the last four seasons. Under Nick Sirianni, Philadelphia has never had a losing record this deep into a season, until now. A last-second loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London dropped the Eagles below .500, and Jalen Hurts has struggled to get the offense moving with any consistency.

The Eagles are also chasing the New York Giants, who currently sit atop the NFC East. Before any of the primetime drama plays out, Philadelphia hosts the Carolina Panthers, a game that could go a long way toward determining whether the Commanders matchup even matters on the broadcast schedule.
