A Miami jury cleared the Dolphins receiver of seven other counts, including continuing domestic violence, in a civil trial brought by his estranged wife.
A Florida jury found Tyreek Hill liable Tuesday night on two counts of battery in the civil trial brought by his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro, as part of their ongoing divorce. The same jury found him not liable on five other battery counts, one count of assault, one count of intentional infliction of emotional distress, and one count of continuing domestic violence.
Jurors awarded Vaccaro $500,000 in compensatory damages. They did not award any punitive damages.
Vaccaro testified that Hill physically and verbally abused her during their marriage, including an instance in which he tried to punch her in the stomach while she was pregnant with their daughter. The couple had an on-and-off relationship for years, briefly engaging in 2021 before marrying in 2023. Vaccaro said the relationship turned violent within months, as Hill pushed for her to sign a postnuptial agreement she objected to over a disputed clause.
Hill told jurors he did verbally abuse his wife, though he in turn accused her of stealing from him. The split verdict closes out a trial that aired years of allegations from a marriage that unraveled almost as quickly as it began.
