The defeat was the third straight for the Saints, all of them at the Superdome, with the Vikings loss coming on a Monday night that was supposed to mark the 20th anniversary of the team's post-Katrina return to the stadium.\n\nBenson said the loss \"truly disappointed\" her and made clear she is not interested in excuses. \"I will not make excuses, and I will not accept this level of performance as our standard,\" she said. \"I am committed to making the decisions necessary to improve this team. Everyone in this organization understands the urgency.\"\n\nShe added that fans \"are right to expect more than we have delivered\" and said responsibility starts with her as owner, while stressing that no single person is being singled out for blame. The Saints are 7-15 since Kellen Moore took over as head coach and have not made the playoffs since 2020. Benson's comments leave open the possibility of changes to the coaching staff or front office if results do not improve.","published_at":"2026-10-14T04:49:16.110960+00:00","source_count":6,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Saints owner Gayle Benson rips team as it limps into Week 6: ‘I will not accept this level of performance’","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/saints-owner-gayle-benson-rips-011145460.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Saints owner Gayle Benson says 'our fans deserve better' after a 1-4 start","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7688193/2026/10/13/saints-owner-gayle-benson-comments-1-4-start/"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Saints owner Gayle Benson rips team as it limps into Week 6: ‘I will not accept this level of performance’","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/13/sports/saints-owner-gayle-benson-will-not-accept-this-level-of-performance/"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Saints owner Gayle Benson voices frustration with 1-4 record, emphasizes 'urgency' to improve","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/saints-owner-gayle-benson-voices-frustration-urgency-to-improve/"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Saints' owner rips 1-4 start in public callout, says fans 'deserve better'","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50177269/saints-owner-benson-rips-1-4-start-says-fans-deserve-better"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Saints owner Gayle Benson: I won't accept this level of play as our standard","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/saints-owner-gayle-benson-i-wont-accept-this-level-of-play-as-our-standard"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Saints owner Gayle Benson: I won't accept this level of play as our standard","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/saints-owner-gayle-benson-wont-210648817.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Saints owner Gayle Benson calls out 'not acceptable' 1-4 start amid team's struggles","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/saints-owner-gayle-benson-calls-out-not-acceptable-1-4-start-amid-teams-struggles-215443280.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Saints owner sends fiery warning to New Orleans amid early season struggles","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/saints-owner-sends-fiery-warning-224052688.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Saints owner Gayle Benson puts Kellen Moore, Mickey Loomis on hot seat","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/saints-owner-gayle-benson-puts-001231981.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Saints owner says results are ‘not acceptable,’ says fans ‘deserve better’","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/saints-owner-says-results-not-012429335.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Players are responsible’ – New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson sides with fans over poor form","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/players-responsible-orleans-saints-owner-053000724.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://s.yimg.com/lo/mysterio/api/0df144873c47c652cad6223fec46fedb09ed0c9a73bfe2f950c5fd29bba4f95f/lightyear_networkapi/resizefill_w1200_h675%3Bquality_80%3Bformat_webp/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.zenfs.com%2Fen%2Fny_post_sports_articles_389%2F0e4e2e42f8a0bc3c16919083477a58e1.jpg","credit":"Yahoo Sports","width":1200},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
