He's set to return in November.\n\nThe timing stings. Sweat was brought in to be the Bears' best pass rusher and an anchor on the defensive line, but 2026 has been a rough stretch for him individually, with only two solo tackles through the season so far. Now Chicago has to find a way to cover for his absence against two tough opponents without its starting edge rusher.\n\nThe Bears haven't announced who will step into Sweat's role for the next two games.","published_at":"2026-10-13T23:18:46.370532+00:00","source_count":8,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Montez Sweat suspended 2 games","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/montez-sweat-suspended-2-games-203430718.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Bears' Montez Sweat suspended for violating NFL's performance-enhancing substances policy","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-suspends-bears-montez-violating-ped-policy/"},{"outlet":"SB Nation","publisher":"SB Nation","title":"Bears’ Montez Sweat suspended 2 games for PED violation","url":"https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/1132345/bears-montez-sweat-ped-violation-performance-enhancing-drugs"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Bears DE Sweat suspended two games for violating NFL's PED policy","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50176333/bears-de-sweat-suspended-two-games-violating-ped-policy"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Bears' Montez Sweat suspended 2 games for violating performance-enhancing substance policy","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7687487/2026/10/13/bears-montez-sweat-suspension/"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Bears' Montez Sweat suspended two games for performance-enhancing substance violation","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/bears-montez-sweat-suspended-two-games-for-performance-enhancing-substance-violation"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"NFL suspends Bears DE Montez Sweat 2 games for violating the league's PED policy","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/breaking-news/article/nfl-suspends-bears-de-montez-sweat-2-games-for-violating-the-leagues-ped-policy-201115187.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Bears DE Montez Sweat suspended for 2 games for violating PED policy","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/bears-montez-sweat-suspended-2-201331266.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Bears’ Montez Sweat suspended 2 games for PED violation","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/bears-montez-sweat-suspended-2-202729420.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Bears' Montez Sweat suspended two games for performance-enhancing substance violation","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/bears-montez-sweat-suspended-two-202529860.html"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Montez Sweat hit with two-game PED suspension in brutal Bears blow","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/13/sports/montez-sweat-hit-with-two-game-ped-suspension-in-brutal-bears-blow/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Bears' Montez Sweat suspended two games for violating NFL PED policy","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/bears-montez-sweat-suspended-two-204503692.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Bears DE Montez Sweat suspended for 2 games for violating performance-enhancing drug policy","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/bears-montez-sweat-suspended-2-210100041.html"},{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"Why Did The NFL Suspend Bears Defender Montez Sweat For 2 Games?","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/montez-sweat-suspension-bears-schedule"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"“They Ain’t Working”: Chicago Bears Fans Clown Pro Bowler for Suspension","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/ain-t-working-chicago-bears-212547637.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Juicing Up and Still Can’t Get Any Pressure,’ ‘Still Trash’ – NFL Fans Mock Bears’ Montez Sweat for 2-Game PED Suspension","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/juicing-still-t-pressure-still-000342181.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Montez Sweat hit with two-game PED suspension in brutal Bears blow","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/montez-sweat-hit-two-game-205322791.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://nbcsports.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/9fcdd23/2147483647/strip/false/crop/1920x1080+0+0/resize/1920x1080!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhdliveextra-a.akamaihd.net%2FHD%2Fimage_sports%2FNBCU_Sports_Group_-_nbcsports%2F182%2F78%2Fnbc_pft_bearspackers_261012.jpg","credit":"Pro Football Talk","width":1920},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
