Sweat will sit out Sunday's game against the Falcons in Atlanta and the Week 7 Thursday night game against the Patriots before returning in November.
The NFL has suspended Bears defensive end Montez Sweat for two games for violating the league's performance-enhancing substances policy, adding another injury-adjacent headache to a Chicago defense already dealing with bad news this season.
Sweat will miss Sunday's matchup against the Falcons in Atlanta, followed by the Week 7 Thursday night game against the defending AFC champion Patriots. He's set to return in November.
The timing stings. Sweat was brought in to be the Bears' best pass rusher and an anchor on the defensive line, but 2026 has been a rough stretch for him individually, with only two solo tackles through the season so far. Now Chicago has to find a way to cover for his absence against two tough opponents without its starting edge rusher.
The Bears haven't announced who will step into Sweat's role for the next two games.
