Rams cut kicker Mevis after missed field goals in OT loss to Bills

Los Angeles signed Blake Grupe off the Jets' practice squad to take over ahead of Week 6 against the Cardinals.

The Los Angeles Rams released kicker Harrison Mevis on Tuesday, a day after he missed two field goals in a Monday night overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills. Mevis missed a 50-yard attempt on the Rams' opening possession, then had a 48-yard try in overtime tipped at the line by Bills linebacker Greg Rousseau.

The Rams are signing Blake Grupe off the New York Jets' practice squad to replace him ahead of Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Through five games, Mevis had been 14 of 14 on extra points but just 5 of 9 on field goals, with three misses between 40 and 49 yards and one from beyond 50. His 55.6 percent field goal rate ranked last in the NFL this season.

Mevis went unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft. He spent time in training camp with the Carolina Panthers before being waived, then kicked for the UFL's Birmingham squad before landing with the Rams.
