The 33-year-old driver and Fox Sports pit reporter says he still hopes to race in the season-opener at St. Petersburg and the Indianapolis 500.
Jack Harvey announced Tuesday that he is battling cancer, sharing the news on social media without detailing specifics of the diagnosis. The 33-year-old UK native has competed in 93 IndyCar races, with his best finish a third-place podium in the 2019 Indy road course race.
This year Harvey drove for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in the Indianapolis 500 while also working as a pit reporter for Fox Sports during its first season as the IndyCar series rights holder, plus serving as an analyst for Indy NXT races.
In his announcement, Harvey wrote that his goals for 2027 have not changed. "My entire career has been about fighting for what's next," he said. "The next opportunity. The next chance to prove myself. The next time I could get back in the car and show what I'm capable of."
He said he hopes to be at the season-opening race in St. Petersburg on March 7 and to compete in the Indianapolis 500 once again.
