Micah Parsons won't face former team this week after all

The Packers edge rusher still hasn't been cleared to even return to practice as he recovers from a torn ACL and meniscus injury.

Micah Parsons will not make his season debut against the Dallas Cowboys this week, and he's not even back at practice yet. The Packers pass rusher has been working his way back from a torn ACL and meniscus injury suffered last season against the Denver Broncos.

This week's Sunday Night Football matchup against his old team had been floated before the season as a possible, if aggressive, return target. That target has come and gone without Parsons getting the green light.

Head coach Matt LaFleur addressed the situation in his Monday press conference. "Soon as they give us the green light, he'll be out there," LaFleur said. "So, that hasn't happened yet. But I think we're getting closer." LaFleur noted there's substantial testing required before a player coming off a major injury like this gets medically cleared, and that the team will likely want to ease Parsons back into football shape once he is cleared rather than throwing him straight into game action.

The Packers enter the week coming off a blowout win over the Chicago Bears, 31-7, at Lambeau Field. They'll now host Dallas without their star pass rusher for at least one more week.
