Dodgers fall behind Brewers in NLCS after Game 1 loss

The Brewers took the opener 2-1 in Milwaukee, and now the Dodgers look to even the series in Game 2 on Monday, Oct. 12.

The Dodgers dropped Game 1 of the National League Championship Series to the Brewers, 2-1, at American Family Field on Sunday night. It was a showcase of the kind of baseball that carried Milwaukee to a 103-win regular season, the most in the majors this year. The Dodgers, who won 100 games themselves, now face a Brewers team that doesn't hit many homers but grinds at-bats and creates chaos on the bases.

Los Angeles isn't yet in must-win territory, but the margin for error is shrinking if they drop Game 2. History shows that falling behind two games to none is not fatal. Only six teams have come back from such a deficit to win a best-of-seven NL or AL championship series, and the Dodgers themselves pulled it off in 2020 against the Braves before going on to win the World Series over the Rays that year. Even a three-game deficit isn't automatically over, as the 2004 Red Sox proved against the Yankees in the ALCS.

Game 2 is set for Monday, Oct. 12, in Milwaukee, with the Dodgers looking to steal back home-field advantage before the series shifts.
