{"id":489,"section":"sports","section_label":"Sports","url":"https://www.brokenews.co/sports/489","headline":"Eagles running back room thins out further with Shipley injury","dek":"Will Shipley is expected to miss multiple weeks with a foot injury, leaving Philadelphia down to two healthy running backs while Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby also deal with injuries.","body":"The Philadelphia Eagles ruled out running back Will Shipley for Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a foot injury, and reports indicate he could be out multiple weeks. That leaves the Eagles with just two healthy running backs on their active roster, a rough spot for a team that already has Saquon Barkley banged up and Tank Bigsby also hurt.\n\nIt caps off a brutal stretch for Philadelphia, which sits at 2-3 after dropping two games it probably should have won. Both losses came without key contributors on offense and defense, including DeVonta Smith, Barkley, and tackle Lane Johnson.\n\nThere is some better news elsewhere on the injury front. Barkley and Smith have a real chance of playing in Week 6, according to a report from NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.\n\nStill, the running back depth chart is the more pressing issue right now. With Shipley sidelined for an extended stretch and Bigsby also out, the Eagles will need to lean on whoever is left healthy at the position while they wait for Barkley to return to full strength.\n\nIf the offense cannot find its footing soon, the Eagles could face tougher decisions as the trade deadline approaches.","published_at":"2026-10-12T23:04:35.401115+00:00","source_count":5,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Eagles get hopeful injury updates on Saquon Barkley, DaVonta Smith for Week 6","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/eagles-hopeful-injury-updates-saquon-201202420.html"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Eagles’ running back position completely decimated with Will Shipley injury","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/12/sports/eagles-running-back-depth-completely-decimated-with-will-shipley-injury/"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Eagles RB Will Shipley could miss weeks, per report: What's next with Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby also hurt","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/eagles-will-shipley-injury-update-saquon-barkley-tank-bigsby/"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Eagles RB Will Shipley out multiple weeks with foot injury","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/eagles-rb-will-shipley-out-multiple-weeks-with-foot-injury"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Eagles, already depleted at RB, lose Shipley to foot injury","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50158323/eagles-already-depleted-rb-lose-shipley-foot-injury"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Will Shipley injury update: Latest news on Eagles RB's status in Week 5 game","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/shipley-injury-latest-news-eagles-145230743.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Eagles lose Saquon Barkley backup RB to injury vs Jaguars.
