DP World Tour bars LIV golfers starting in 2027, closing Ryder Cup door

CEO Guy Kinnings says players who stay with LIV Golf will lose DP World Tour membership and with it a spot on the Ryder Cup team at Adare Manor next fall.

The DP World Tour is done splitting the difference. CEO Guy Kinnings confirmed on Monday that the circuit will no longer grant membership to golfers who sign with LIV Golf starting in 2027, ending the conditional-release arrangement that let players bounce between both leagues in recent seasons.

"Players need to make a choice," Kinnings told BBC Sport. "We have rules and regulations, which are there to protect our Tour and which our members must all abide by. Players who are not willing to comply with our rules and regulations should not be seeking to join our tour."

The practical fallout lands squarely on the Ryder Cup. Since golfers must hold DP World Tour membership to qualify for that team, any European player who stays with LIV Golf will be ineligible for next fall's event at Adare Manor in Ireland. That forces LIV's European contingent into a real decision heading into 2027.

LIV Golf itself has not released a 2027 schedule, with its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case in New Jersey still working through the courts. How the league's roster and finances shake out could shape just how many players actually face this choice.
