Giants and Commanders settle for 27-27 tie after wild comeback

Jameis Winston threw for three touchdowns in the second half to erase a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit, but New York couldn't finish the job in overtime.

The Giants and Commanders played to a 27-27 overtime tie in Landover on Sunday, a result that left both NFC East teams stuck in neutral. Jameis Winston was the reason New York had a chance at all, completing 33 of 54 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns while leaning heavily on Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely.

Winston's day started rough, with a first-half fumble mixed into the struggles. But he flipped the script after the break, going 26-for-38 for three touchdowns as the Giants clawed back from a 14-point fourth-quarter hole. One of those drives was a 13-play, 63-yard march that ended in a touchdown. Coach John Harbaugh called Winston "amazing" in the second half, crediting a shift in offensive approach, though he noted the quarterback would be the first to admit the first half belonged to everybody's shortcomings, not just his own.

On the other side, Jayden Daniels made his return from an arm injury and looked plenty mobile, throwing for 199 yards while adding 103 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

The tie moves the Giants to 3-1-1 and the Commanders to 1-3-1, with neither club doing much to separate itself in a division that remains up for grabs.
