The Bulldogs collected 66 first-place votes in the AP Top 25, taking the top spot for the first time since 2024.\n\nThe move at the top came with chaos just below it. Texas, previously the AP No. 1, fell six spots to No. 7 after losing 27-24 to unranked Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. Ohio State and Miami both climbed in the rankings behind Georgia, and Kentucky surged up to No. 15.\n\nUCLA cracked the top 10 for the first time after upsetting Oregon in Eugene, pushing the Ducks out of that group. Georgia now turns to Auburn, which returns from its bye week to face the new No. 1 team. The Tigers have not beaten a top-ranked team since 2017, when they defeated Alabama 26-14, and have not played the AP No. 1 since a 2023 loss to Georgia.","published_at":"2026-10-12T17:03:19.018988+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"2026 College Football Rankings: Georgia Stays At The Top, Texas Tumbles","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/joel-klatt-show-top-10-rankings-georgia-bulldogs-texas-longhorns"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"The Georgia Bulldogs are No. 1 in the AP Poll ahead of the Auburn game","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/georgia-bulldogs-no-1-ap-133033750.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Re-ranking 138 college football teams after Week 6: Prove-it time for Notre Dame, Indiana","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7682730/2026/10/12/college-football-team-rankings-notre-dame-indiana/"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"AP Top 25 poll: Georgia jumps to No. 1 in college football rankings after edging Alabama in SEC showdown","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/ap-top-25-college-football-rankings-georgia-texas-alabama/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Tomorrow's Top 25 Today: Georgia takes over No. 1, Oregon and Florida fall in new college football rankings","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-rankings-tomorrows-top-25-projection-georgia-no-1-oregon-florida/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Coaches Poll Prediction Week 7: Here Comes a Huge Shakeup","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/coaches-poll-prediction-week-7-053456932.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"AP Top 25 Poll Prediction: How Far Will Texas, LSU, and Alabama Fall?","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/ap-top-25-poll-prediction-060818447.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Who will be No. 1?
