Mike Evans torches Seahawks and trolls Trevon Diggs in 49ers win

Evans caught seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown as San Francisco beat Seattle 32-29.

Mike Evans had his best game yet in a 49ers uniform, and he still found time for theater. During a second-quarter scrap with Seahawks cornerback Trevon Diggs, Evans spun his jersey around to check the nameplate, apparently unsure who exactly was chirping at him.

The moment went viral. Evans said he had been blocking Diggs through the whistle when Diggs accused him of doing "extra." Evans says he did not recognize him at first despite having played against him before. Diggs, elevated from Seattle's practice squad for the game, responded by shoving Evans before the two were separated.

On the field, Evans made sure the trash talk had substance behind it. He finished with seven catches for 113 yards and a touchdown, and also hauled in a two-point conversion that put the 49ers up 29-26 with 11:02 remaining. San Francisco held on for a 32-29 win over Seattle.

The win keeps San Francisco rolling through the first five weeks, with Evans looking increasingly like the missing piece the 49ers needed at receiver.
