Deebo Samuel to miss weeks with hamstring injury

The 49ers receiver got hurt in Sunday's 32-29 win over Seattle, further thinning San Francisco's already battered wideout room.

Deebo Samuel will be out for at least a few weeks after hurting his hamstring in San Francisco's 32-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Samuel "got it pretty good" on the injury, which happened in the third quarter of Sunday's game. The 49ers were down to just three healthy wideouts to close out the win.

Samuel had been producing since re-signing with San Francisco early in training camp after a season in Washington. He has 16 catches for 206 yards and three touchdowns this year, added 78 yards rushing on nine carries, and had also been the team's top kick returner.

The timing stings because San Francisco's receiver room was already thin. Projected starter Ricky Pearsall had season-ending knee surgery early in camp, and rookie De'Zhaun Stribling had surgery of his own after an injury. With Samuel now sidelined, the 49ers will need to lean on their remaining healthy options while he recovers from the hamstring injury.
