The SEC fined the Wildcats $500,000 after fans at the 60,000-seat Kroger Field rushed the field immediately following Kenneth Minchey's game-winning two-point conversion in overtime, the first field-storming fine handed out to an SEC football team this season.\n\nThe win itself was a notable one. Kentucky entered the game unranked and beat Lane Kiffin's LSU squad, which had come in at No. 10, 35-34 in overtime. It was LSU's second loss of the season. In the new AP Top 25, Kentucky jumped to No. 15 while LSU slid to No. 24.\n\nAs for the fine, LSU is the one collecting it. Since 2023, SEC policy has directed fines for field-storming during conference games to the opposing school rather than the league itself, meaning Kentucky's $500,000 penalty goes directly to LSU.","published_at":"2026-10-13T04:46:28.436033+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Front Office Sports","publisher":"Front Office Sports","title":"Kentucky Will Pay LSU $500K SEC Field-Storming Fine","url":"https://frontofficesports.com/article/kentucky-lsu-sec-field-storming-fine/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Kentucky Will Pay LSU $500K SEC Field-Storming Fine","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/kentucky-pay-lsu-500k-sec-145821293.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Kentucky fined $500K by SEC after fans storm field to celebrate wild overtime win vs. Lane Kiffin's LSU squad","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/kentucky-fined-500k-lsu-lane-kiffin-sec-fans-storm-field/"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"SEC fines Kentucky $500K after Wildcats fans storm field for beating No. 10 LSU","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7681379/2026/10/11/sec-fines-kentucky-lsu-field-storming/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"SEC fines Kentucky $500,000 for field storming after win over LSU","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/breaking-news/article/sec-fines-kentucky-500000-for-field-storming-after-win-over-lsu-191708383.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Kentucky fined $500,000 for field storming vs. LSU, and the Tigers will get it","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/kentucky-fined-500-000-field-192606696.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Playing 2027 NIL Chess,’ ‘So He Lost on Purpose?’ — CFB Fans Troll Lane Kiffin After Report Outlines How Kentucky’s $500K Fine Could Benefit LSU","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/playing-2027-nil-chess-lost-083022616.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Why Kentucky's upset win over LSU cost school half a million dollars","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/why-kentuckys-upset-win-over-174507864.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"How much Kentucky was fined for fans charging the field after beating LSU","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/much-kentucky-fined-fans-charging-004147101.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Why Kentucky will pay $500,000 to LSU as part of NCAA fine for fans rushing Lane Kiffin after win","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/why-kentucky-pay-500-000-054039380.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://frontofficesports.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/2026-10-11T040430Z_989083009_MT1USATODAY30054918_RTRMADP_3_NCAA-FOOTBALL-LOUISIANA-STATE-AT-KENTUCKY-scaled-e1791817027499.jpg?quality=80&w=1024","credit":"Front Office Sports","width":1024},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
