Commanders head coach Dan Quinn confirmed Friday that the quarterback will start Sunday's home game against the Giants, while offensive coordinator David Blough said Daniels is \"full go\" after being a full participant in Wednesday's practice.\n\nDaniels, 25, had been out since Week 2, when he injured his non-throwing elbow bracing a fall during Washington's 37-20 loss to the Cowboys. The injury aggravated a previous dislocation to the same elbow from last season. He will wear a black brace that keeps the elbow permanently bent slightly for the remainder of the season.\n\nIn Daniels' absence, Marcus Mariota started the past two weeks, including a win at home over the defending Super Bowl-champion Seahawks in Week 3. But Mariota suffered an MCL sprain to his right knee during Washington's Week 4 loss to the Colts in London, adding urgency to Daniels' return.\n\nThe Commanders host the Giants Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.","published_at":"2026-10-10T16:20:28.847621+00:00","source_count":3,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Commanders reveal Jayden Daniels’ status ahead of Week 5 matchup with Giants","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/commanders-reveal-jayden-daniels-status-013859587.html"},{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"Commanders Coach Dan Quinn Reveals Week 5 Game Status For QB Jayden Daniels","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/jayden-daniels-injury-update-commanders-quarterbacks-week-5-giants"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Jayden Daniels’ return comes with reason for fantasy football caution despite plenty of hype","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/09/sports/jayden-daniels-fantasy-return-comes-with-reason-for-caution-despite-plenty-of-hype/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Giants-Commanders matchup: Can the Giants contain QB Jayden Daniels?","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/giants-commanders-matchup-giants-contain-170000618.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Commanders get bad news on Stefon Diggs that complicates Jayden Daniels' return","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/commanders-bad-news-stefon-diggs-171459334.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Terry McLaurin development comes at perfect time for Commanders","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/terry-mclaurin-development-comes-perfect-172449108.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Commanders warned about Jayden Daniels in unfair way heading into Giants game","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/commanders-warned-jayden-daniels-unfair-173816635.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Commanders QB Jayden Daniels to start in Week 5 vs. New York Giants","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/commanders-qb-jayden-daniels-start-205022677.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Jayden Daniels not at 100 percent","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jayden-daniels-not-100-percent-015022978.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Jayden Daniels Cleared to Play as Commanders Get Major Boost","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jayden-daniels-cleared-play-commanders-030414614.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Commanders' Dan Quinn on what type of lift Jayden Daniels brings vs Giants","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/commanders-dan-quinn-type-lift-080826311.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Commanders RT Josh Conerly Jr reacts to QB Jayden Daniels' return","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/commanders-rt-josh-conerly-jr-100643043.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Jayden Daniels Injury Outlook Emerges Ahead of Commanders’ Week 5 Game","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jayden-daniels-injury-outlook-emerges-113428743.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://s.yimg.com/lo/mysterio/api/36933b9eaa40776d8d4f9b7b0d844803066a0cc0a77d7bc20041f9ea59dbcf56/lightyear_networkapi/resizefill_w1200_h675%3Bquality_80%3Bformat_webp/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.zenfs.com%2Fen%2Fny_post_sports_articles_389%2F1d6869f89d9a2328f369dc3def9f0e64.jpg","credit":"Yahoo Sports","width":1200},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
