The Eagles have released the veteran quarterback, who had already lost his job as the team's QB2 following a costly interception against the Bears.\n\nThe move caps a turbulent week for the Eagles. Along with cutting Dalton, Philadelphia will head to London to face the Jaguars without Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith, both sidelined by hamstring injuries.\n\nDalton's release leaves the Eagles needing to sort out their quarterback depth chart on short notice, with the London trip adding logistical pressure to an already thin roster. The skill-position absences of Barkley and Smith only compound the uncertainty heading into the matchup with Jacksonville.\n\nNo further details on Dalton's next steps or the Eagles' quarterback plans beyond the demotion and release have been reported.","published_at":"2026-10-10T16:20:28.847621+00:00","source_count":5,"written_from":[{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Sources: Eagles release Dalton after demotion from QB2","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50142134/sources-eagles-release-andy-dalton-costly-pick-demotion"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Eagles release Andy Dalton after veteran QB, Saquon Barkley to miss London game vs. Jaguars","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7675667/2026/10/09/eagles-jaguars-london-andy-dalton-saquon-barkley/"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Report: Eagles to release Andy Dalton","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-eagles-to-release-andy-dalton"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Andy Dalton let go Friday","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/andy-dalton-let-friday-182431997.html"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Eagles releasing Andy Dalton as injuries cause roster mayhem","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/09/sports/eagles-releasing-andy-dalton-as-injuries-cause-roster-mayhem/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Eagles are releasing Andy Dalton, keeping Tanner McKee and Cole Payton","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/eagles-releasing-andy-dalton-keeping-183404303.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Report: Eagles to release Andy Dalton","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/report-eagles-release-andy-dalton-183624763.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Andy Dalton released: Eagles reportedly cut veteran quarterback","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/andy-dalton-released-eagles-reportedly-185308541.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Eagles release Andy Dalton.
