Cleveland beat Chicago 9-5 behind Jose Ramirez, who homered and drove in three runs, sending the ALDS to a decisive Game 5 in Cleveland on Saturday night.
Jose Ramirez will not let this series end. A night after racking up two hits, a triple and two RBI in a 9-3 win that kept Cleveland's season alive, Ramirez delivered again Thursday, homering and driving in three runs as the Guardians beat the White Sox 9-5.
That win forces a winner-take-all Game 5, with the series shifting back to Cleveland on Saturday night. The Guardians had faced elimination entering Game 3, but their offense has suddenly come alive at the right moment, with Ramirez leading the charge in back-to-back games.
Manager Stephen Vogt praised Ramirez's performance after Game 3, saying the team always knows he is one swing away from changing a game, calling him one of the best players in the league because of his ability to hurt opponents.
Cleveland's bats have carried the team through consecutive wins to even the series. Now the Guardians and White Sox will settle the ALDS in a single game, with a trip to the next round on the line.
