Cowboys host winless Bucs on short week after rally past Texans

Oct 8, 2026 · 3:17 PM ET

Dallas beat Houston 34-30 after trailing by 10 at halftime and now turns around for a Thursday night game against an 0-4 Tampa Bay team missing its expected starting quarterback.

Dallas doesn't get much time to savor its comeback. The Cowboys erased a 10-point halftime deficit to beat the Texans 34-30 on Sunday, improving to 2-2, and now have just three days to turn around for a Thursday night matchup with Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers arrive at 0-4 after a 17-14 loss to Green Bay. The record undersells how competitive Tampa Bay has actually been this season. Injuries, shaky quarterback play, and a stalled offense have been the story through the first month, but the defense has kept the team in games.

Adding to the Buccaneers' trouble, they will not have the quarterback they expected to lead them into Dallas for this short-week trip.

Dallas will look to carry the momentum from its second-half rally into a quick turnaround, while Tampa Bay is still searching for its first win of the season.
