Dodgers and Brewers set for NLCS rematch

Oct 8, 2026 · 4:29 PM ET

Milwaukee beat San Diego in Game 4 of the NLDS hours after Los Angeles finished off Atlanta, setting up a repeat of last year's NLCS.

The Dodgers wrapped up their NLDS win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night, and it didn't take long to find out who awaits them next. Hours later, the Brewers closed out Game 4 of their own NLDS in San Diego, beating the Padres and avoiding a decisive Game 5 that would have drained both teams' pitching staffs.

That result sets up a rematch of last season's NLCS, when the Dodgers swept the Brewers on their way to the pennant. Los Angeles is now chasing a third straight World Series appearance, with Milwaukee looking to avoid the same fate that ended its season a year ago.

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman had been asked after the Atlanta series which opponent he preferred, Brewers or Padres. "I just want chaos," he said. He didn't get his wish for an unpredictable matchup, instead getting a familiar one.

The series marks the second consecutive year these two teams have met with a trip to the World Series on the line.
