The cuts took effect immediately, according to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand and Marc Carig, who were first to report the news.\n\nBaseball Night in New York and Sportsnite are both gone. SNY will keep producing Mets Hot Stove, along with pre and postgame shows for both the Mets and the Jets. Reporters Chelsea Janes, Ian Begley and Connor Hughes are staying on, but much of the network's other talent and editorial staff were let go.\n\nThe Mets are owned by Steve Cohen, one of the wealthier owners in sports, which makes the scale of the cuts at the network notable on its own. No reason for the layoffs was given beyond the moves themselves.","published_at":"2026-11-06T22:50:22.005201+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"SNY cancels shows, guts website amid significant layoffs","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/sny-significant-layoffs.html"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"SNY cancels top shows, lays off significant staff in dark day for Mets network","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/11/06/sports/sny-cancels-top-shows-lays-off-significant-in-dark-day-for-mets-network/"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"SNY hit with major layoffs, show cancellations; website shuttered: Sources","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7759719/2026/11/06/sny-layoffs-show-cancellations-website/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"SNY cancels shows, guts website amid significant layoffs","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/sny-cancels-shows-guts-website-213053330.html"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
