Myles Garrett set to return for Rams in Week 9 vs Commanders

The pass rusher has been out since Week 1 knee surgery, and Sean McVay says he's expected back barring any setbacks.

Myles Garrett is on track to be activated from injured reserve for the Rams' Week 9 road game against the Commanders, according to coach Sean McVay. Garrett suffered a knee injury in Week 1 that required arthroscopic surgery, sidelining him for roughly two months.

McVay told reporters the team expects to activate Garrett "barring any sort of setbacks," setting up his first appearance alongside Aaron Donald, a pairing Garrett has said he is looking forward to. The Rams went 4-3 during Garrett's absence and currently sit at 4-4 on the season.

The defense has held up without him, ranking fourth in the league in opponent passing yards per game and fifth in opponent total yards per game, though it sits tied for 26th in sacks. Garrett's return adds another dimension to a pass rush that has gotten by on coverage and scheme rather than pressure up front.

The Rams host, or rather travel to, Washington on Sunday for the Week 9 matchup, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET.
